Introduction

The Naval Weapon Systems Test Range conducts developmental T&E for maritime weapons systems and warships, in addition to conducting performance tests for acoustic, infrared, stealth, and sensor systems. The Test Range operates 2 test vessels and the Jisimdo Laboratory.

  • SONAR Performance TestsTest and evaluation of detection accuracy and performance parameters for SONAR systems
  • Ship Infrared Signature Measurement Tests- Infrared radiation characteristic measurement for infrared reduction 
    - Platform infrared susceptibility performance evaluation
  • RCS Measurement Tests - Analysis of defensive weapon systems' detection characteristics
    - Building of RCS databases
    - Measuring of RCS signals for RCS reduction designs, etc.
  • Electronic Warfare Performance Tests - Warfare performance tests for ship radar, electronic warfare equipment, and anti-explosive deception systems
    - Training of operational personnel
  • Environmental SurveysWeather conditions, CTD profiling, sea/tidal current, subsea obstacles, lost objects in the sea, etc.
